Windows Vista Skin on Opera running on Linux and Mono
21. Jun 2007
Take a second to enjoy this image. It's actually an Ajax Window running inside Opera the WebBrowser which is installed on a Linux box which also is hosting the Mono ASP.NET WebServer environment. And the Ajax Window uses Windows Vista Skin.
Did someone say "Hasta La Vista"? ;)

I'm confused. Is a web app with some cool transparent effects supposed to threaten an Operating System?

thomasI am going to resist the temptation of answering that on with anything else then; "Of course..." ;)
To the first comment, it IS blur and it IS transparent, do you see the starts behind it...?

nice but I only see transparency, no blur

thomasThat's true in fact, there is no blur... ;)
But anyway, it's inside a browser running on Linux, the server hosting the web application is also running on Linux (same machine in fact) and it looks enough similar to Windows Vista to be able to be named "Vista Skin" without a lot of embarrassment. I think it's pretty hilarious if you ask me... ;)

@thomas
What I find hilarious, is the BIG difference between a webpage interface and a OS interface that you don't seem to find... :D

thomasErrhh...??
What's that "BIG" difference...?
Blur...??
That's about the ONLY difference there IS in fact...
If you don't count for how much more easy it is to develop using a Gaia Window than it is to develop using a System.Windows.Forms.Form object... ;)
